will anybody hire a convicted felon? it is awfully embarassing to answer "yes" in the job applications that have asked me if i have ever been convicted of a felony.

In this economy? Not many respectable places. I suppose it might depend on what the felony is, but no felony is going to not look bad.

It may depend on the explanation you give, most applications have a spot where you can explain what happened.

Depends on what the felony is. It might be embarrassing to answer ‘yes’ but you have to. They tend to do a criminal check anyway so if they find out you lied well then you’re definitely not getting the job.

Police work and I think the military (I hear they waive some felonies now, at least for enlisted… ridiculous) are out of the question though. Probably the same with things that require security clearances.
