Hey guys! I'm an African American female who just applied to Notre Dame and is interested in studying either Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. What is the percentage of female engineers at ND? What is the workload like for people in these majors? The environment, is it friendly? If admitted, I'm looking at enrolling into the Dual Degree program ND offers for Engineering and Arts&Letters majors

Hi! I’m unsure of some of the statistics you asked for, but I can tell you about the dual degree program. It is called the Reilly Program. I know the director of it! He is super nice and all the faculty in that program are wonderful! You officially apply for the program your sophomore year. It is a 5 year program and the school tries to help you as much as possible with the tuition for th 5th year. Any specific questions? I’ll answer as best as I can

Thanks! I just PM’d you!

Not entirely sure of the percentage, but there’s a great support system for female engineers, and I haven’t really been bothered by the skewed ratio. The Society of Women Engineers is very active, and the environment is incredibly friendly. I’m a freshman majoring in chemical engineering - feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!

thank you!! I sent you a message!

There are a lot of female engineers, though I don’t know the exact percentage. I find that ND is a great school to be a female engineer at. Our SWE is very active, and they concentrate the female engineers within several dorms, so you always have a study buddy near by.

Thanks so much!!
