Female stereotype

I have heard from several sources that most of the girls at USC are snobby and totally into their appearance. Some even show up at the football games in heels and pearls. How true is this?

I didn’t particularly observe this when we visited – only one data point, of course. Two female students helped lead our tour, and both were very casually dressed.

Well most girls dress in black dresses or sun dresses for the games so maybe thats what you heard. And I havent fond too many girls to be that snobby, sure there are some

the girls who dress up for the football games are sorority type girls.they are into sundresses and pearls for football games.Theres plenty of other types. Please remember the campus is only 15% Greek.
the girls my S hangs out with, including his gf, don’t dress like that.they are as casual as we think college kids are, lots of denim, even piercings.
there are some “regional” items of apparel…rainbow flip flops, “croakies” which guys use to hold their sunglasses, bowties on guys, boat shoes, lots of khaki pants.Vera Bradley handbags (those printed fabric bags).Guys wear pink oxford cloth and polo shirts too…
I really havent met snobby stuck up kids on any viisit there. You may be getting a biased “sorority girl” report.

Yes, there are plenty of girls who dress up for football games at USC, but also plenty who don’t. Like any large college campus you will find a range of styles. Sorority girls are probably more likely to go for the more “formal” football look – but most will wear black and garnet sun dresses or casual dresses. High heels are tricky because it is a hike from the shuttle buses to the stadium.

I think you will find tons of warm, welcoming girls at USC – and a few with an attitude. There is definitely more of a “southern culture” it is South Carolina after all, so that does come into play. We’re from MD and our D loves the polite manners and attention to appearance that many (but not all) students have. We have always thought that the kids are friendly and everyone looks happy!

Wearing casual dresses to football games is a very southern tradition. Usually the girls do not wear heels but wear Rainbows or flat sandals. Many campuses have a tradition of making gameday an event and dress accordingly: Auburn, Ole Miss, UGA and Bama to name a few. It isn’t just sorority girls who wear dresses although most sorority girls do. Many independent girls choose to wear sundresses because they are comfortable and cool.

the dresses and pearls is just classy and southern it has nothing to do with being snobby or greek for that matter. plenty of non-greek girls do it. and even if girls wear sundresses (because its hot has heck and more comfy) they wear flip flops because tail-gate spots are usually dirt or grass. anyone in high-heels is usually not used to carolina football.

and on normal occasions people just dress casual. its the south so girls do get more dressed up but it’s not because they’re snobby. it’s just what they’re used to
