Am I the only one that heartily enjoys the conflicts on this site? I'm surprised more aren't instigated...

Personal favorites:
-Some girl on the harvard page asked about student attractiveness and got completely railed by northstarmom. In response she flipped out and the thread was closed by the mediator.
-Byerly's support of Summers after he said that women can't do sciences. Summers later apologized and Byerly, caught in a bind, still supported the action, calling everyone else ayatollahs.
-Haosquared's complete ownership of AJKates on the GoogleBattle thread. (ouch!)

I particularly enjoy conflicts that are poetic in nature, i.e. on some thread about affirmative action two sides were formed, pro and against, each accusing the other of racism. I eat that stuff up!

So anyway, forget the OR game and your favorite movies, let's get controversial!

(Please don't get the wrong message. This post is tongue-in-cheek.)

hahaha, thats y shows like the real world (and all other reality shows for that matter) are so successful....(btw, real world san diego was the best real world EVERRRR)

lol...I love the controversies so long as it's not over politics. The northstarmom one was a trip. I'd never laughed so hard or knew that a parent on CC could be so mean.

my issue with the real world is that everyone on it is so stupid. Maybe I'm equating intelligence with being articulate, but they're just so hard to seriously listen to.
At least on cc the fight isnt between a default "wrong" and "right" person. The interesting thing about the "girls cant do science thread", for example, is that both sides have engaging arguments (for the record, it was a debate about whether innate differences between genders can be studied in academia, and whether making comments on the topic is deplorable or not) and it wasn't just two idiots yelling their dogmas at each other.

bah, political correctness is out of control...you can't please everyone and someone is bound to take offense so just say what feels right and fair to you. if you can't agree with the world, at least agree with yourself.

regardless of whether the real worlders are smart, u gotta admit that they're pretty darn interesting....i mean, do u watch the current real world episodes? real world philadelphia....its AWESOME!!! landon and the drama thats building up with karamo, the sexual tension with shavonda...the white girl whose name i cant remember whoring it up...and willy and the blonde white dude just chillin and going to clubs...I LOVE IT :p

Kebree, this is my problem with northstarmom:

So bcwannabe's ego is hurt, and she publicly wonders if the girls at harvard are hotter than brown.
NSM (a MOM no less) responds with the following:
Northstarjerk: "If this is your question, I can say with 100% confidence that Harvard is not the college for you.

I also will make an exception to my usual rule of not making Harvard admissions predictions: If you bother to apply, I doubt that you'll get in."

northstarmom is ****ed that bcwannabe wonders about such things, i.e. has a life on the side, rather than focusing 100% on academia. then she decides to make this teenager cry. I can't agree even with nsm's point, let alone its presentation.

Kebree, i dont think you're mean, i would just like to be enlightened...
