I was recently admitted into Cornell under the ED program. However my Fiancial Aid package was very meager. I would probably go into heavy debt as a result. Is there anything i could do to get more grants?

I doubt it. Most of us on here are going to have loans up to wazoo. But for me, the sacrifice is worth it for a Cornell education!

o i c, i guess the best thing to do is just apply for outside scholarships, thanks for the help

US News and Report (my dad just got it - i've been checking out the rankings like crazy :o) lists Cornell as one of the National Universities where students have the most debt: 39% of graduates have debt and avergae amount of debt is $24,570.

Oh and also, what I meant to say originally, can't you appeal your financial aid package? Or is that only for RD?

i am so happy i didn't apply ED, i knew it, it's all a trick from schools to get you hooked and get you to pay up. I didn't fall for it :)

see, this is why i'm afraid to apply ED next year even though they say it can increase your chances of getting in. i'm afraid i'm gonna be swallowed up in debt with tons of loans. Just wondering, if you don't mind, what's your family income and household size and how much fin. aid did u get? (anyone) thanks.

I really don't think there's any huge ED trick. I was pretty happy with my financial aid, I knew I was going to my dream college before the holidays, and I only had to fill out one application. Worked for me.

check the archives guys, you definitely can negotiate more aid out of them. have a parent call and explain how your family is not really able to work with the amount they've given you. they will negotiate lower.
