Fiat Lux & Honors Program

Can anyone talk about their experience in the Fiat Lux programs? Is it hard to get into?

Also, is the honors program something that freshman have to get into their first year or.. is it a set of classes that anyone can take?

Thanks.

fiat luxes are one unit classes you take for fun or (maybe) if you need an extra unit or something. theyre about specialized topics on a variety of things by professors who are interested in teaching it. while its not competitive or anything to get into, there are only 20 spots for each seminar, so it may be kind of tough, depending on the subject’s popularity.

the honors program is exactly what it sounds like and was in high school - doing extra work for honors credit. basically, u have to graduate with a certain amount of honors units from different categories. you can take honors classes, seminars, contracts, SRP, bla bla, whatever else. you don’t have to get in as a freshman, you can apply later. there is no “set of classes”, there are many classes you can take so long as you do the amount of honors units you’re required to do.
