Hey guys, just wondering how many of you guys used not completely truthful anecdotes in your college essays.

They don't have to be completely made up, but do a lot of people change up bits of their anecdotes to fit their essay? I'm guessing it's impossible to tell the anecdote exactly the way it happened, since it'll lead to a cumbersome and wordy essay.

Can you give us an example?

well say I’m writing about a childhood memory way back in elementary. If I don’t remember all the details, is it okay to fill in some blanks as I see fit?

I’m curious as to if most people do this.

Maybe I’m over thinking it, but I find it impossible to remember any specific moments with that much clarity, at least not enough to be able to write the detailed, descriptive essays that colleges like to see.
