my son was accepted for 6th to horace mann, fieldston and friends. he thinks he prefers HM, but i have concerns about snobs, wealth, and competition, to an excess - are most kids there happy, regardness of their parents’ values and backgrounds?

egardness of their parents’ values and backgrounds? — what do the parents’ values have to do with their backgrounds? Are you trying to say that less wealthy have better moral and ethical values?
In terms of “snobs, wealth and competition to an excess” = all three schools are private, with an overwhelming majority paying over 35k a year. HM is not more wealthy, etc. It is much more academic than the other two schools, probably on a whole other level. If your kid is that smart, that should be the school to go. The others do have smart kids, but not across the board. They will probably be more laid back in terms of outward seeming things, but honestly if you have lloyd blankfein’s kids in your grade or jon bon jovis, just because they look relaxed, doesnt mean their lifestyle is.

The same exact thing happened to me! They lost my principle’s recommendation letter as well as my english teachers. How unprofessional and how embarrassing it was for me to ask my PRINCIPLE to write it again!!

I go to Trinity but I have a serious problem with you saying Friends Seminary is the worst. You have got to be kidding me! How stuck up. How dare you!

Sorry - One more addition- Call it a miracle but I got into Trinity, Spence, and Friend’s Seminary with ISEE scores of 5, 5, 6, and 7. MIRACLE! Thanking my lucky stars. It is TRUELY about the interview, have a conversation and be your self at our best! Be happy and pumped.

I got into Horace Mann with ISEE scores 9, 9, 6, 6

I go to Horace Mann. It was rough getting in I wont lie. I was lucky enough to get accepted to Trinity, Horace Mann (BTW Trinity is NOT harder/better academically than HM, we compete for 1st and 2nd place in the rankings), Riverdale, Fieldston, Hackley, Rye Country Day, and Poly Prep, but I chose Horace Mann. Ask questions if you’d like!

What where your test scores? I am also applying to Horace Mann and Fieldston, and I’m curious.
