Fifth year in HS?

I didn't realize that many universities still give heavy consideration regarding HS GPA and SATs as a transfer. Due to how things kind of worked out, this is the summer after my senior year... but I still don't have my diploma. Essentially, I'm still a HS student.

My HS GPA, as I've stated before, is just over a 3.0. 2010 SAT. The main reason for the steep decline of my GPA are the four Fs I received in two classes and a D I received in a third.

As of the end of summer session a few weeks ago, I have just about enough credits to pick up that diploma. I suppose it's my option to do so at the moment... so, back to you guys for advice.

Question: Would it be in my best interest to retake these two or three courses this fall, retake the SAT, and get the diploma in the winter? Factoring in that I pretty much have only one class passed throughout my entire senior year, would it be seen negatively that I actually want to make up for that by spending the extra time to raise it back up?

if your a cccbound student then i dont see the purpose of doing it all over if the UCs dont care about HS stuff. Just get your diploma and thats it.

The UCs don't care... but other (private) universities do, apparently. Seems like a huge swing for my HS GPA if I just retook those three classes; hypothetically, replacing four F's and a D with five A's is a 19 point difference...

...and I have to retake one of the classes anyway. Seems like it might be worthwhile to just retake all three.

But perhaps my logic isn't quite all there right now... anyone else want to chime in? :)

Bump, as I'm running out of time to make a decision... TIA!

If your goal is to make it to the UCs then don't. The only reason I see you doing that is if you want to make it to the other top universities. I don't know if they'll look down on your HS transcripts though but five years in high school is sort of bad...

I guess it's your choice. Personally, I think you'd be wasting time doing that. UCs are good schools and since your from Cali you'd pay so much less, and graduate with virtually no debt.

Then again, I can't tell you what schools to apply to.
