I am trying to figure out which college I could graduate from the quickest - but every time I call or email someone, they just tell me to wait for summer counseling! I don't want to choose a school where I have to do more courses! I want to know! I see that the UCI humanities alternative has a lower div writing requirement, but I would assume igetc would cover this. I am confused....I don't want to go somewhere I have to take 2x the amount of classes. Then again, how can I know...if there is no way to know for sure...this is such a gamble.

Well, assist.org is usually a pretty good starting point. Or your CC’s website might have notes on which courses are UC/CSU transferable.

In my experience (Berkeley, EECS) schools are pretty lenient on humanities requirements, they want to apply your past coursework. Major classes are more important, so those can be harder to get articulations for. For example, a basic psych class I took at an OOS CC counted towards a humanities requirement, but none of my past CS classes articulated because they wanted me to take their versions.

I don’t think any UC is going to make you take 2x the amount of classes… if you’re doing IGETC and the school/major accepts IGETC, you’re done with GE or H/SS requirements. If you do the major classes listed on assist.org, those will generally articulate. Once in a while assist will be out of date, but that’s pretty rare. I’d be surprised if more than one or two classes gave you unexpected trouble though… at any UC. If there are problems for something you think really should articulate, there should be a way to petition for credit or something.
