<p>I'm a Freshman at a community college right now and I'm transferring to Troy University for next year and I'm stumped on what to major in. My interests are focused in Public Admin, Business Admin, or Criminal Justice. Little information first. I care just a little bit about starting salaries. I want to love my job, but I also would love to have a good salary, but I want to love my job. Bottom line is that. Anyways, my interests are in government jobs and the financial side of it. I love the fact of working for the people and making important decisions for a city. So all I'm asking is what are job outlooks and how easy is it to get government jobs that accept my choices of degrees. Public Administration, Business Administration, or Criminal Justice. I want to know about entry level salaries, median salaries, job outlook, job security, how to have a better chance at a job, internship possibilities, how fun working for the government is, and any other stuff that you think I should know. I'm leaning towards Public Admin or Criminal Justice now that I think about it. But just want some input from others. Thanks and looking forward to peoples answers. Don't tell me not to major in any of those three. I hate the fact of Accounting and I don't like any of the other business majors. If you have a related field that could be better then maybe I'll consider. Thanks again for your time reading this.</p>

<p>In general, government jobs are not well paying compared to many other jobs, but they offer some sense of job security. I mean, as long as you don’t screw up, you’ll have a job as long as there is a U.S. government, and there will be a U.S. government long after we’re all dead. But few people have made it big working in the public sphere. Service seems to drive these people. </p>
<p>Business is where the money is at, but you’d have to get a job at a good firm, which is getting harder nowadays. Entry salary at top firms are high and career prospects are good. But the hard part is getting in. </p>
<p>Bottom line: Don’t choose a major based on how much money you’ll make. You will never be satisfied whichever major you choose.</p>
<p>How are job prospects and salaries at certain Departments of Transportation, etc. I’m not choosing because of salary. But it is a good thing to know. And I love the idea of working for the government for whatever reason. I don’t know why. But I do. But what I mean is that I want a job that I love but is also a pretty good haul. Enough to live off of and maybe one day support a family of my own. That is all.</p>

<p>It all depends on what job you want. You can be certain that the higher paying ones are going to be competitive, though.</p>
<p>That didn’t tell me to much. What about Communications? Is that any better? Or should I definitely just stick with Public Admin? And what about a minor?</p>
