filling out a scholarship app as transfer student. ??s about it!

Hi there. my D16 applied to our state flagship, and was awarded some school scholarships. She declined them and chose to go to an LAC. . . . and then after 1.5 yrs she transferred back to the flagship; no scholarships were re-extended. :frowning: but she’s happy there and the move was good.

she’s filling out forms for abroad scholarships now through her new school and writing a resume. They are asking about any scholarships she was offered. Should she write that she was offered that school’s Honors and Regents scholarships even though she turned them down 2 yrs ago? i guess that’s my question: can you say you were offered a scholarship even though you turned it down? i think it sounds good, but not sure if it’s correct. thx!

No, I think they are interested in what she’s receiving. It’s sort of like when the high school publishes that their grads received $10 MILLION in scholarships, but most of them can’t be used because one student can only use the scholarships for 1 school even though he might have received them at 15. There was the girl who received over a $1M - because she was accepted to 150 schools.

I agree. She should not list scholarships that she does not have.

The app may be looking to find out which students are lacking in scholarship dollars and your daughter would be one of them. They may be trying to avoid awarding to someone who already has a bunch of awards.
