My D is interested in the Film Coordinate Program at Tulane. We visited campus end of March and my D met with one of the professors associated with the program. Through that she learned how the program is set up and that there are currently around 25 students involved. Can anyone provide additional comments on intern experiences and on how students feel about the program. Also, any insights into the direction of the program would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m attaching another message (with the correct major title) in hopes that someone might have had some experience with this major or know someone else who has. My D loves Tulane and New Orleans but is unsure about the strength of this program. I’d love to have some additional information to work with before she commits…

I can’t tell you anything about the program, but I did see an article a few days ago talking about how New Orleans is the hot city for movies. Apparently there is almost always something being filmed.

Here is that article I mentioned: [As Filmmaking Surges, New Orleans Becoming Serious Challenger To L.A. - Forbes](As Filmmaking Surges, New Orleans Becoming Serious Challenger To L.A.)

I’m in comm at Tulane and I am so so jealous of the film part of comm here! I feel like it’s a really strong part of what isn’t such a huge major at Tulane. The filming opportunities are sent out through the comm listserv so I always get them too and there are just literally so many emails sent out. A lot are for student films, but basically theres are a lot!

Thanks you for digging up the article, Fallenchemist and Elephant9, for the info on possible student opportunities. The info in the article about the upswing of film in area is great to hear and it is very nice to know that there seems to be plenty for students to take advantage of. Super big help… I really appreciate it… :-)
