@thebonj I was originally rejected

I was browsing ‘film production’ forum posts from last year and it seems like some transfers were still waiting after June 1st. There weren’t any status updates as to whether they were accepted; however, some posted that they were called for second choice majors.

My status has not been updated since 5/20/10.

Just thought I would share that info.

Just got my packet in the mail right now!!

dillonjames32, that is just fantastic for you. Really pleased when someone let down prevails! I hope that this same happy event occurs for my son. All the best to you.

Thank you! I worked ridiculously hard on the appeal and thankfully that payed off. Good luck to your son!

Was your appeal by phone or email or letter?

Letter, along with more letters of rec., updated grades and a short reel of my highschool films: [YouTube - Reel](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHxB8QgVp0o)

@ dillon …

That was a great reel you put together. Glad that you got accepted. It makes me wonder though what Chapman didn’t see in your original application. You obviously have talent, so what drove them to deny you the first time? A question like that would irk me.

@matt
I was told Dodge wanted me but that my gpa wasnt good enough (3.2)

Thanks for the info dillon.

You’re a transfer too, right?

I’ll probably end up in the same boat. I have a 3.34 cumulative gpa.

It’s almost not right. Creativity/Talent should trump gpa when film is a person’s major. It’s good to know that you can appeal and be successful.

For those interested, here’s my application essay: [My 2010 Chapman video essay](<a href=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnttlY1btAM"]My”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnttlY1btAM)

Nope, im not a transfer

Get in through another major, or anything? I got decision complete, and i didn’t choose a second major, so does that mean I’m totally rejected?

did you get any $$$? Would love to know if they still have money for those waiting to hear…

Hey hows it goin? I know its hard to get into Film Production for Chapman, but is it easier to get into any other of Dodge’s programs? Any advice for a guy who got the Decision Complete status. I think I’ve been rejected.

kmac, try again for next spring. Word around town is it’s a lot easier to get into Dodge during spring semester. Don’t be discouraged. Just my 2 cents

“Decision Complete”

Sigh.

Sorry to hear allwi. Seems like a lot of transfers (at least the few that are posting on here) haven’t had much luck.

I just called Admissions because I’m still decision pending. I was told that by the end of next week all decisions should be made.

I’m not sure what the “appeal” process is, but I suppose the most I can do at this point is submit my final grade for the statistics course I just completed. Other than that, maybe another letter of rec or something? I don’t know. I feel very deflated. I worked so hard to excel in the 2-year community college stint, all for nothing. What a waste

allwi, that sounds exactly like me.

I also did 2 years at a community college. I was denied to Chapman in Fall of '07, took a semester off, and then went to CC and earned my A.A. degree. A majority of the “extra” classes I took were recommended to me by an Admissions counselor from Chapman; classes that were unfortunately unused towards my degree. I’m proud of what I accomplished. I hope all that work wasn’t done in vain.

I never visited the school, but I did attend Dodge College’s “First Cut” in NYC. Meeting with the students and seeing their films made me to want to attend Chapman. It seems like a great environment and student’s have a lot of freedom.

I’m still ‘decision pending’ as of tonight. So, I don’t know my fate; it’s torturous and with a holiday weekend I probably won’t know until Tuesday…hopefully. All I can do is try to stay positive. But, I hope I’m not setting myself up for a letdown.

The whole college application process sucks; especially if you’re an “in-betweener”. A good, but often overlooked student. Sometimes I feel like I’ll always be a Salieri and never a Mozart. :)

Sorry for my ramblings. I’ve been coming to this board to vent lately.

What do I say to chapman admissions in order for them to let me know if I’ve been wait-listed? Could decision complete mean that they’re offering me a choice at another major?
