I'm interested in majoring in film production. I understand it is the most selective major. :( I wondering what the acceptance rate is and what the film school considers important in reviewing applications (essay, ECs, GPA, SAT, etc.). Any help would be appreciated!!!

I have the same questions. The Chapman website has a lot of information (like admission rates, the application process, etc.). Is there some way to get in contact with a film major or get more information?

Attended a LMU tour today. Admissions office says that the film school is capped at 250 students TOTAL...frosh-senior. It is the only major at LMU that you MUST apply to as a freshman...you cannot transfer into it (or at least it's highly unlikely that you'll get in unless someone else drops out). I believe they said there was an additional essay and scrutiny in the application process if that's where you are hoping to major in. Good luck.

Thanks OaksMom. That's helpful information! I'm guessing, with these kind of numbers and the reputation of its film school, the admission rate is low.

They didn't happen to mention what kind of information they focus on in selecting admits?

No, sorry. But I'm sure if you contact them... Film School direct # is (310) 338-3033. They can probably send you the info that you are lookng for.

For all admits they look at the whole candidate...all 4 years of HS, they don't look at the SAT writing scores and they take the individual top scores from your SAT's from whatever sitting you got them in. Hope that helps you somewhat. They seemed very willing to answer any and all questions...(at $46K) they should be! Good luck in your search.

OaksMom, thanks again. I called today and talked to a counselor. The avg. GPA is 3.8 and SAT is 1300 for the film program, but it is becoming more competitive each year. The film school also focuses on your supplemental essay. They have over 1000 applicants for about 100 spots.
