Film Production Major

Yes, I’ve read on students review.com(without space) from different people that LMU has a high school mentality and the groups are very cliquish. I’m not surprised.

I believe I heard about the NY and Paris backlot awhile ago. I wish they would start building it right now so if I go there, I can actually put it to good use. Chapman will be even more ahead in the game once they start construction on those new sets. I bet it will come out amazing. USC better watch out, Chapman is right on their tail as far as film school rankings go. Who knows who will be at the top in 5 years…

USC will always have Spielberg, Lucas and Zemeckis behind them, especially with funding. It’s the first film school, formed with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, located in the heart of Hollywood. With that said, yes, Chapman is right behind them and their future looks extremely bright.

Like all schools, it comes down to what’s right for you. There are students who, I believe, are born to go to AFI. Others will love the “small town” feeling of Chapman and have that as their first choice. I didn’t apply as Production to USC, I actually applied as Critical Studies, for that reason. I can only see myself making films at Chapman, not USC. I’d like to study film at USC, but I’d like to make my films at Chapman. For me, Chapman won my heart.

On the tour, we were told that Zemeckis helped (designed) the motion capture room, and that when you go in, you’ll see a slightly problematic corner - where they had to build the room around a support column. The funny thing is that Dodge KNOWS that USC or UCLA COPIED the Knott motion capture room because USC/UCLA put a crazy little corner in their room, too. A nice little story, if true.

I wish the admissions ppl would read this thread so they get an idea of how bad everyone here wants it and let us all in!

Nice thought, moncarr, but your idea will have the grumbling triples becoming quads, and we can’t possibly have that! (visit the dorm thread).

All I gotta say is, Zemeckis is the man!

Monkarrr, I have always wondered whether admissions people visit this website. It’s a nice thought.

Got rejected from LMU today…“ehh” *shrugs shoulders…As you can see I’m heartbroken.

But seriously, now I have to get into Chapman. If I don’t, I’ll have to move back home with my parents for a year, and quite honestly, I’m not sure I can survive that.

Ok really weird question, but, maybe someone out there can help me.

For a movie I am shooting next week we need to show one of the charectors was beatin to death in a fight (brutally, like disturbing, gory) but we have no idea what to use as fake blood.

The question is, do any of you film pro’s out there know of a substance that is cheap, easy to get, and effective that could be used as fake blood? Like obviously kathcup, but that looks like **** on camera. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

LMU rejected you? I’m sorry. I looked at your posts and saw you have a 3.5 GPA. That makes me nervous because I have a 3.4. I’m still waiting for my decision from LMU. =(

I don’t know about the fake blood thing…

Stupid question for Chapman: How do we find out how much credits will transfer over? I’m on my Academic Evaluation, it’s so confusing. I see different numbers. Is it under Required, Current Earned, Remaining, which is it???

linsper, what’s Academic Evaluation and is that for Chapman? How can you access that?

jcarroll, sorry about LMU. As for the fake blood, I’ve never had to use any, but I believe prop shops/special effects teams carry their own kind. I don’t know what it is but it’s not ketchup. If you don’t have access to these people, then sorry. Chocolate syrup works good if you’re filming in black and white, though.

This is the site for Webadvisor if you don’t have it saved: https://ariel.chapman.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor?&TYPE=M&PID=CORE-WBMAIN&TOKENIDX=9277753814

The Academic Evaluation shows you how much credits will transfer over which I want to find out. Also, it shows what courses you would be taking in your major, general requirements, your Chapman email address, etc. I wouldn’t blame you if you got confused too with all the numbers on there. I don’t understand some of it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. What is this???

I’m going to have a bunch of questions, stay in this thread and let’s answer them.

It says Institutional GPA: Not met. Do you have that, too?

What in the world? I think it says a History course I took got transferred over and I received an A. I never took a History course. Am I reading this all wrong? Oh God…

I have Not Met too under Remaining, Institutional GPA. I’m hurrrr! You sure you don’t want to talk on AIM? It’s much easier…

When it names a course than says “TRANS” and gives a letter grade, that means it’s a class we took that got transferred over, right? Everything looks right, except for that History course and an English course I took says “B” but I received an A. I’m so confused and scared.

Ah, man. I don’t have AIM. Let me try to download it, what’s your SN?

Seeee, I don’t get it either. But yes, *TE and TRANS means your class from whatever university you came from to Chapman; their class equivilant(can’t spell). I’m guessing you get credit for that. I don’t know about the grades being wrong. Maybe they have a different scale…

i made fake blood as a random request last week during a shoot! just boil a little bit of water like half a cup, in a small pot, preferably with a heavy bottom so it doesnt burn, with sugar. you’d want about the equal amount of sugar and water. when it starts to boil, reduce a hit, so it simmers. let that simmer for about 5 min? and it will be a little thicker but not THICK like blood. now take a cup and put a little water, like 3 tablespoons, and add about a tablespoon of CORN STARCH and whisk it with a fork or whatever to dissolve it, NO LUMPS! and while whisking it, add it to the sugarwater mixture and simmer it for a bit until you get the consistancy you want.
after that get red and green food coloring. you’d want a **** ton of red food coloring at first so it doesnt look translucent. later add a drop of green at a time and mix well when you do, and just keep adding until you get the darkness (like that crimson red for blood) you want. cool it and useeee it

and its completely edible if you need it for a vampy scene or something like that

as for the dorming thing, its ridiculous. ill be grateful if i even get a dorm at all
