Film Production Major

I think I get it. Your saying it’s like two smaller lights(500 watts a piece) condensed into one (1000watter)? So it would be 3000 watts then total, right? Not quite sure where the 6500 comes from. Unless, maybe…nope still dont get it.

As far as three point ligting let me make sure i got the jist of it.

one keylight, one fill light, one back light?

My train of thought is I could use a 1000 watt light for each, and simply reduce the intensity of the fill and back lights (without starting my friends house on fire).

And yea, I’m in HB, so I think Burbank is close.
North Hollywood was a 2 hour drive in traffic, bout 45 to an hour without. But let me tell you, I’ll never go back there…ever…without a bullet proof vest

North Hollywood is scary.

As far as the lighting goes, you are correct with the lighting diagram. These work lights, and all lights in general, get abnormally HOT. You’ll need to turn them off when you’re not using them because if your actors don’t start sweating intensely, the crew eventually will feel the heat.

Those links you posted for the lights, you see how it has two bulbs? They’re 500 watts each, so it’s a total of 1,000 watts. If you buy two of these, you’ll have four 500 watts to work with. I don’t know if you can take them off the tripod. You are correct about reducing the intensity, some of these lights come with a switch where you can increase/decrease the lighting. You’re also going to need some - what’s it called, paper? - to cover these lights, to soften them up. I don’t know too much about these but regular paper will definitely not work. They’ll burn right through.

One-way-I saw your post on the USC thread saying you can login to the enrollment deposit website. That means you were accepted into USC. Congratz! I still can’t login…ugh.

linsper: I am not getting my hopes up or depending on this website. I will be waiting to receive a letter in the mail. I seriously don’t want to set myself up for disappointment so I’m pretty much ignoring all of this right now, haha.

Good thinking.

Admission Approved, omg, Im so nervous for my letter. ahhhhhhhhh, Ive been waiting for so long.

Oh, wow, another transfer? Congratulations.

I’m starting to get worried.

Thanks, I dont know if that means Im for sure in though. I hope, I just want that letter in my hand. Uh, Im so nervous now.

What was the date of your Decision Pending status, FilmFanatic?

FilmFanatic, I understand, but Chapman has confirmed numerous times “Admission Approved” means you’re in.

Here, this is from their last entry on their admissions blog:

“Admission Approved is a good thing, yes.”

I know that’s vague, but they have directly said it means you have been accepted.

Congrats FF!

Are you a production major?

And I mine as well ask what are your stats like?

Yes I am a production major, my decision pending status was 3/24 and I really hope you guys are right. I know about the chappenings blog, but I just dont want to celebrate to early!! Thank you for the congrats, I am so stoked!!!

congrats filmfanatic! see you this fall! :D

Oh wow, so I probably won’t hear for awhile. I’ve had mine since 5/01.

CONGRATZ!!! If I was you, I’d go out and celebrate. Wooooooo!

I just got accepted as screenwriting or producing, but denied as film production :(

Congratz on the sw and producing though cheer up!
:)

Looks like the decisions are starting to come…I’m getting excited!

Plus in three hours I will never have to look at a math book ever again! Hallayluya (or however you spell it)

Congratz Transferdancer!!! What was the date of your Decision Pending status? Post your stats! It’s still great you got into your second choice. Better than nothing at all. =)

I got into USC, guys. It’s official, acceptance package and all.

I truly can’t believe this because nobody, except my family, will know what I went through to get here. I’m still awaiting my decision for Chapman, and if I am accepted to both, I will honestly have a very difficult decision to make. If I don’t have to chance to meet all of you, I hope I do at some point in my life and career.

I want to wish all of you the best of luck. Never, ever, lose hope because anything is possible and your dreams will come true. I will still stay in this thread/forum!

Thanks for the inspirational post, Armen. I told you before that you got accepted. You deserve it! Chapman vs USC would be a very touch choice. You do what’s best for you. I’m glad to see you got into one of your top choices. That must be so amazing. You can officially say you got accepted into the BEST FILM SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY! Congratz again!!! =)
