Film Production Major

My D is “up the road” at Oxy and I remember 3 girls crammed into a double her frosh year, and no A/C. THAT was interesting!

so good news!!! Chapman said they were going to re-evaluate my financial aid so I might have a chance that I will actually be able to go there if I get in  But, bad news (in a way) - I didn’t get in UCLA. Oh well it just wasn’t meant to be I guess. Hope everyone is coping well with the wait.

congrats on your finaid good news! so glad to hear that they will do that for you. hopefully we’ll both get into Chapman haha… but the wait is really killing me D:

well they didn’t actually say that they will give me financial aid yet, but they did say they were going to bring it up in front of a committee again, so at least its not a for sure no…and I know me too, what are you guessing 2 more weeks?

I sent a small turbo a/c for my son when we moved him in to Glass. I don’t think he has ever needed to take it out of the box.

My other son’s dorm was stifling hot in another college. I just assumed it would be as miserable, but not so much.

when will us poor film transfers hear anything from them? :[

Are you a transfer with film production frosh credits, or would you be new at the major?

I am sorry to jump into your thread (and not have an answer, besides!) but I had been wondering how many film production applicants were on a waitlist. And then how the waitlist compares to transfers.

But if you have film credits coming from a film program, I guess you might be in a separate category. Does anyone with knowledge have an idea how they handle this?

I’m currently an art major so i’d be new at the major.
i have no idea if they differentiate transfers by experience or no experience :[ hopefully they take that into consideration haha
but im wondering if any film transfers heard back from Chapman

Hey Guys -
So I’m not 100% percent sure but when I talked with someone from Dodge College basically they said that there are no transferable “film courses” you can take for Chapman. It looks better if you have taken film classes to show interest in your major on the application - but they will not accept anything towards your degree classes that you have not taken at Chapman…I don’t know if this answers your question. I’m also not 100% sure about the whole wait list thing, but I believe its kind of like a “runner-up” spot kind of like if some of the people they admitted decline their offer - then your the next in line, and you could be wait listed for several reasons (grades, movie, essays, etc. - and if its grades, possibly put on probation if accepted) Chapman is a little original on how they accept their students…I heard 90% of the film major is men and the average GPA is like a 3.2…but like I said I DON’T KNOW FOR SURE, this is just what someone at Chapman told me. It could be totally wrong. …and Monkarrr…I know I’m so anxious I read the blogs from last year and all the transfers heard around the 15th…so I’m scared its getting closer…plus I’m still waiting to hear about the whole financial aid thing :S

when I talked to Shannon for the first time, she said my only advantage might be that I’m a girl wanting to go into film production D: that they want more girls in the program, so that might be a good thing for us. I had to register for my next semester courses at my current school today, and I really hope I transfer haha it would srsly change my life.

Ya I mean I spoke with her as well and she told me my advantages (the biggest one being that I was a girl) Gosh I’m praying that it will affect their decision…and I mean I already got into UCI so, I am going some where, but Chapman is where I really want to go…just such a good opportunity…I seriously will be so bummed if I dont get in…but everything happens for a reason right…well see

for the 2 of you!!! GirlPower type (the most powerful ones, which incidentally multi-task, too!)

Haha Rock On, thats what I like to hear. and the best to you too “Investor” we’ll keep the thread updated on our status I’m sure…do you go to Chapman Film School you said?

nrfoster7: Nah, I’m just gladly sending my S across the country to become a bit more evolved as a Californian. ; )

He got accepted to film production, class of 2013, is a bit nervous to be away, but his sister is up at Oxy and glad that he’ll be closer to her. I just think that girls rock (being one, and having one). My S is pretty great, too, but we don’t tell guys that cuz it just goes straight to their heads and they’re borderline smug as it is…

I’m just pulling for girls into the film production program, so again, good luck!!

Oh Ok…so I"m guessing he applied as a freshman and got in? That’s awesome. Where are you guys from? believe it or not, I"m pretty sure the majority of people at Chapman are not Cali natives…so I"m sure hell do just fine and feel at home once things start going.
Ya I’m rooting for all the girls too (not just because I am one) because if they don’t put some in film production will be an all boys program pretty much with a few sprinkles of females haha.
Well it’s the 4th and nothing has changed on webadvisor. nxlcvjnloxhncvljn!!!

He did get in as a freshman, and we’re from Miami. Palm trees to palm trees…our beaches are bathtub water gentle, though, compared to those rock and roll waves (cold!) you guys have out there.

I read that instate/out of state was 66%/34%, on collegeboard, so I think he’s still in the minority, but that’s okay because it gives him better chances to befriend more natives who know what’s going on!

My D just loves SoCal, so I’m hoping he finds it as wonderful. She’s in Eagle Rock, though, so a totally different environment than Orange.

Ya for sure a different environment than Orange. Ive been to Florida before (too humid for me), but my family lives in Key West. Has your son been here before (to Cali)?

Transfers,

When you guys log into WebAdvisor, try going to “Students” instead of “Prospective Students.” Try clicking “Student Account Summary,” which is listed under “Financial Information.”

Do you all see a Chapman e-mail for you, right beside your name and ID? My application is still pending, so I found it strange that an e-mail would be provided. Does everybody (mainly those who haven’t heard back yet) see this?

one-way,

i just checked what you said and i have an email addy too… but i’ve been accepted so i don’t know what to tell youuu.

but, aren’t we suppose to create our own email addresses later on?? (other schools ar elike that)

I have no idea. I don’t necessarily think it means I have been accepted yet, I just think it’s weird they’d provide me with one. After all, it still says “Decision Pending.”
