edthegurl: I’m sharing this not to scare, but I would check under “documents” when you log in. It’s the only thing missing on my S’s file.

My last name starts with a C.

Not to be nosey - but jcarroll6 is your girlfriend’s name Amanda?

I just got back from working on a commercial. It’s funny, the whole time I was thinking, “I’m killing myself to go to school to do THIS.” Either way, no updates tonight.

nrfoster7: lol na her names Jen why do you ask…if you dont mind me asking of course lol

And is your name Nichole Foster? Cuz if it is thats kinda creepy. I used to know a Nichole Foster in Northern California (more specificly Sonoma County)…

Sorry haha I just asked because I know a Jake Carroll and I used to coach his girlfriend Amanda - same initials…and My name is Nicole Foster but without the “h” or “hole” as I like to call it, that you wrote it with, so we’re different Nicole’s but small world eh…
And update - Got my second appeal for dependency override denied again they called today and said they can’t work any harder on it til I get accepted, so I should call Admissions and find out what the deal is…I was like " r u kidding me, what do you think I have been doing every day" haha so ridiculous - I feel like I am going in circles…talk about a messed up system!!! Nothing new on Webadvisor tho…

There you go, that’s you reason to call Chapman tomorrow and bug them for more info. Ask them what’s going on, we already have two different stories. Tell them your LIFE depends on this situation, tell them you NEED to find out ASAP or ELSE. Also, put in a word for me.

haha ya - I wonder if they even acknowledge when people are on a need-to-know basis. But I will have them put a gold star by my and “one-way’s” name haha…maybe we’ll hear back sooner…

Do you guys really think it’s bad to call everyday.

Yes, it is bad to call every day. That is my advice from the college admissions industry, as well as common sense. It is annoying and a bit stalkerish.

Do you really want to annoy the people trying to decide your future?

Once a week still may be pushing it, unless you have a legitimate question for different departments.

Show how mature you are, ask pertinent questions. But not too many of them. ESPECIALLY not EVERY DAY.

I haven’t called yet and it’s mostly due to the fact that I don’t want to annoy them. Yes, it’s bad to call even once a week. I don’t think it really matters if you’re not giving a name, and for the info we need, you don’t need to give your name.

However, if you are giving your name and asking a bunch of questions, I personally think it looks bad. Whoever is on the other end might not be making all the decisions but he/she probably can put in the word that you’ve called five times since they opened.

Hopefully they don’t overlook me because I haven’t called at all. I just don’t want to bug them.

Just an opinion, but I think you guys (and gals) are looking at it entirely the wrong way. These people answering the phones are essentially working for us. That’s what paying the application fee bought. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition that we will be paying if we are so lucky as to be accepted. For the faculty to get angry and black list my application just because I’m eager to hear the results, would be like the guy who makes my sandwich’s at Subway getting upset because I’m a frequent customer.

“Listen buddy, this is the third god damn sandwich this week! For Christ sake man, get a grip on yourself!” Slaps me in the face

I mean, I’m always polite and courteous. Yeah, I’ll occasionally crack a joke or 2 about the wait time, but really, if your job was to sit and answer phone calls from anxious(annoying) students all day, chances are you’ve gotten used to it by May. It’s not like these folks are sitting there with a check list. “OK Gentlemen what do you have for me today?” “Well this guy Joe Carroll has called 4 times this week” “4 times?!..He’s a monster!” “That’s not the worst of it….We suspect…Gulp….he’s going to call again tomorrow…DUN DUN DUN!” “God help us….”

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, and I’ll admit I’m probably wrong, and I probably wont get in because of it, but the way I see it, it’s the least they can do.
And I know what your thinking…But what if every applicant called to check on his/her application status, everyday? The chances of that happening are slim to none, especially considering that all the freshman applicants have already been notified. I vow to call LMU and Chapman everyday from here on out to test my hypothesis.

Lurking variable being whethor I would or would not have got in anyway.

And with that, I’m calling it a night. Tommorows another day. May it bring us all good news! Until tommorow, Adios Amigos!

Like jcarroll said, its their job to answer the phones…and whether we are the ones to be calling every day or not, statistics have it that SOMEONE will be calling them everyday, so it really doesn’t matter. Plus I don’t know about you guys but I never leave my name and am always polite. And another thing - I don’t know how every school works, but the majority of the people that answer the phones, that’s all they do, they are not the ones on the committee deciding out fate nor do they care enough to pull a file and say accept this person they’ve been calling a lot, or don’t accept them because they have been annoying the crap out of me all day…seriously - no. I work for a college as well, and if I gave my two cents about students they would laugh at me…they’re there to do a job (secretarial) and that’s it - you guys are thinking way too much into things. If you want to call, then call, and if you don’t want to I’m sure you will hear updates through college confidential about others calling. Plus, there is nothing anyone can really do by calling. I am sure they are working the as fast as they can, and we will hear when they’re dun. Everyone just needs to be patient. Go enjoy the day in peace knowing that you did your application the best you could have and if you did or didn’t get in, it was only meant to be.

I understand what you guys mean. I don’t think your admission decision is based on how many times you call. I just want to know why they’re lying to us. One person says all decisions have been made, while another says that isn’t true.

Okay soo I just read this whole thread. I wish I would’ve gotten here sooner. I’m still waiting like everyone else. I found it interesting how I had “Decision Pending” on May 1st and they updated it again on May 5th with “Decision Pending”. Do you guys think that means anything such as taking a double look at my application? Hmmm.

The person earlier pointed out about having a student email when you go to Students. I have one as well…

Okay, I think this e-mail thing doesn’t mean anything because we all seem to have it.

Second, I don’t know why they updated your date yet didn’t change your status. I’ve heard that happen with USC students so it’s probably nothing.

Transfer students always have to wait longer. It is largely because of Decision Day, May 1st. If you look at today’s date, it is May 7th.

This school, like every other college in the US, has just gotten back the statement of intents to register and deposits for the freshman class.

Many of those are postmarked. I am willing to bet that Chapman, and LMU and USC and whatever other school you may have applied to as a transfer is still processing this mail. The admissions offices are still crushed from the amount of mail they are dealing with.

They want to make sure they don’t offer too many spots to transfers. If they can’t house them, either in residence or classrooms, they are going to limit that number of new transfer students.

Decisions are most likely pending, still, because they are still massaging those numbers. You all have worked hard on your apps, and I know how frustrating it is waiting. It is agonizing. But remember, these people who work in these offices are also limited in what they can say - they can’t tell you admission status over the phone. They may have gone through a pile of apps, but may have more to go.

The first place you will see if you are admitted will be webadvisor, before you get a letter in the mail. Usually.

Actually, that is so true and it’s something I haven’t been thinking about.

May 1 was the day to send the letter of intents, so they are definitely going to wait on those until they give us word. They need to see how much room they have left - absolutely. That’s a scary thought as well because if we’re up against a limited number of seats. Scary.
