Recently I’ve received some news that I could study abroad, so I’ve been on my research for film colleges and universities on US. This is new for me, and I’m not well prepared for it, since my grades aren’t very high (I finished high school 2 years ago). So I’m really worried about it, and I want to make it up for it by creating a great portfolio, getting myself in volunteering, participating in as many projects and courses as I can, and doing good essays too.
Therefore, I was wondering if you could help me by recommending universities or colleges which the admission process isn’t very academically rigorous, once I can have a chance with my supplemental work.
This is my list so far: SCAD, UT of Austin and Emerson College.
I also thought about Chapman, NYU, USC and LMU, but I don’t know if I’d be dreaming too much.
I’m referring to high school GPA, which it’s about 2.96 (goddamn math). I’ll take SAT this year, so I still can’t say pretty much about it.
Financial aid won’t be needed. And thank you for your recommendations! I’ll look for those colleges.
I think +1200 it’s very affordable. I’ll study hard for SAT, and I was studying for my country’s standart testings already, so I have good thoughts about it.
Also look at UNM (New Mexico), very affordable and they’re pretty generous to OOS applicants with mid-high stats. Not sure about international applicants. As mentioned, Columbia College Chicago is also a good choice, nearly open enrollment.
We have a family friend who went to UNM in cinema. He really enjoyed it and now is sometimes an extra in a few shows. He still needs a day job to pay the bills like most cinema majors. NM cost of living is very reasonable and that U is also pretty reasonable.
I believe Chapman is pretty selective. One of my friend’s D’s is a grapgic arts grad from there. Cost of living in CA is much higher than NM.
USoCal is VERY competitive, especially for cinema and $70,000+ per year. We know many grads from the cinema program. Most also have day jobs to pay their bills.
