I plan to study film when I go to college in a couple years, or at least minor in it, and I am looking at schools other than LA and NYC as well. I know Austin is probably the next best city to be in, or one of them, for film. I love UT Austin, but I'm OOS and not sure I could get in. I really want to attend a school that has strong academics like UT Austin or UCLA or USC. Private schools are a consideration as long as they're well known or have good academics, I guess. So anyways, wondering what other schools there are around Austin. Is it just UT Austin, St. Edward's University, and Concordia University Texas? Any others? Inputs? Thanks! I'm applying to Emerson, BU, NYU, UT Austin, UCLA, USC, LMU, and Chapman. LMU is probably the only school here I'd consider a real safety, so does anyone have any advice here? I live in Mass and instead of trying to find a few more schools, I may limit those I'm applying to and just apply to UMass as a safety if I don't get into film school. (OR I could apply to a CSU in LA that's easy to get into? Thoughts?) I know this is a messy paragraph of questions, but any input on Austin schools or applying advice is MUCH appreciated.

I think UT Austin and St. Edward’s University are great choices for film school, Concordia isn’t very strong academically as far as I can tell.
