Film

Hi, I'm still deciding between Boston University and Rutgers (BU is guaranteed debt of around 70k for me and Rutgers is cheaper) but I'm interested in majoring in film.

After searching and asking, I've been told that the Mason Gross School of the Arts has Visual Arts and I can focus in Video/Film/Digital Media but I didn't apply to MGS (I was still undecided when I applied so I went for SAS). I've also been told I can major in English and focus on cinema. After emailing the school, I was told there's no film major or anything like that but I'm planning to call since Rutgers is such a big school and I find it ridiculous that they don't offer any film major.

Has anyone done the film tract at Rutgers or anything like that? (As of now I want to major in film but overall I plan to do Pre Med!)

Hey Saw -

It’s true that the Visual Arts program at Rutgers Mason Gross currently only offers a concentration in video as part of their BFA studio art program. However, this fall they will be starting a new film program partnering up with SAS and the writer’s house on campus. Dena Seidel will be running the program who has won lots of prestigious awards for her documentary film making.
It’s a pretty exciting program, and although it is only in the baby stages it promises to be a pretty huge addition to the Mason Gross/Rutgers cirriculum.
