I am looking to major in Communications and Media and minor in either film production or film studies.

I have been accepted into Hofstra, which I heard has a good communications school, but they focus more primarily on TV production, and their film program is a little undeveloped. At least this is what I've heard from my high school film teacher who is an alumni.

Rutgers is/was my first choice for a couple reasons - it's in state, close enough to home where I can have independence but still visit my family, I have a lot of friends there, and Rutgers is a pretty good school overall, probably the highest ranked college I applied to. They don't have a "film program" exactly, but they do offer certificates in various aspects of film production, including cinematography, which I want to do professionally. Sadly, I was put on a wait-list. I was told by my guidance counselor that if I call the admissions office and pledge that if I get into Rutgers I will definitley go, I have more of a chance of getting in.

But I want to compare the two film programs at Rutgers and Hofstra. I don't feel right majoring in film, but film production is what I want to do with my career, so it is important to me. If anyone goes to these two schools and/or knows anyone in these studies, do you have any insight into which school has a decently built up film program?
