ZBR, i found the one i was thinking of......Zelda Fitzgerald applied to cntv writing, she stated she just was able to log into ExploreUSC but hadn't gotten her letter yet. Her acceptance could just be to the university or it could include writing...don't know yet, from what i can see in her posts.

I don't know about the oscars, but there is a theater right across the street that has hosted the Emmy's and Grammy's maybe?

When I went to MeetUSC, the tour guide told us that one of her friends was a seat filler, and ended up filling in as a date for someone. The story sounded a little fishy, but the oppurtunity to fill seats is definitely there.

ZBR, I think you got the same tour guide as me (was he a guy, maybe 5'10"?).

I do know that the theatre across the street has hosted some pretty neat awards. I have a friend doing a BFA of theatre at USC this year, and she got to go to a few of celebrity award shows.

The Oscars would be awesome though!!

Haha, it wasn't that guy. I'm thinking they are all told to tell the same thing to appeal to the people on the tour. But, maybe they just had two seperate friends?

lol... I liked the bit about all the films that have been taped on the USC campus. Like in Legally Blonde: it's not Harvard, it's USC!!!

I was so impressed with the campus, it was unbelievable. I was under the impression that it was like NYU, and the school was layed out in downtown LA. I was SO happy when I saw how beautiful the campus was. The most amazing part to me was how extensive the film area was. It was almost like a campus within itself. It was truly unbelievable. I got the chills seeing the John Williams Soundstage, the Johnny Carson Studio, the Robert Zemeckis Studio, etc. I need to be there next year.

I better get in.

I thought USC was going to suck. I had heard so many rumors about USC being in the ghetto, and my UCLA friends certainly didn't boost the USC image. I didn't even want to apply.

In the end, obviously, I applied, and when I went to visit the campus, I was in complete awe.

After spending one day at USC, I realized it was where I wanted to be! It's an amazing campus and the atmosphere is really phenomenal.

I think one huge factor that sets schools like USC and UCLA apart is that almost all the students I've talked to at USC absolutely LOVE the school, whereas my friends at UCLA are having an "O.K." time.

best of luck ZBR!

The same exact thing happened to me. Everyone is under the impression USC is in Compton. COMPLETELY wrong. I'm hoping.

Thank you veyr much. Congratulations on your acceptance.

My tour guide told me that USC students fill seats at various award shows, including the Oscars, and we talked to another tour guide who said he was a seat filler, so it seems legitimately true.

SWEET!!! I'm going to the Oscars no matter what!

yup. no letter yet. however, when i registered for an admitted student reception, it said under proposed major "WST" (writing for screen and television) maybe that's a sign?

anyway, i think the whole only 24 kids for writing might add to this delay we're experiencing. i'll give it one more week...then hell will break loose

http://www.laalmanac.com/LA/lamap2.htm

Always helps to see something laid out on a map. I use Google Maps often to get a sense of the city and the whereabouts of places around LA. Compton is south of Watts between the 105 and 91 (closer to 91). It's actually quite far from campus.

My son was a seat filler at the American Music Awards his first year. He found it boring because most of the time they were in a little room, and he left before the end of the show.

FILM LETTER AT HOME....

i'm so nervous

jsut wondering, are there any students who double major in cntv and annenberg?

Zelda that is exciting! Let me know what happens and what the letter says!

This also makes me ten times more nervous.

Anyone heard anything today?

I'm into USC, but CNTV told me that they were still reviewing my app, but i should know by april 1st.

I got into production! I heard on Thursday... on the same day as my acceptance to the actual USC school came... weird, right?

Now I have to choose between NYU, USC, and Emerson... UGH!
