Just curious what people's financial aid packages are looking like...had heard Santa Clara was "cheap" for being a pretty expensive school? Our EFC is $9393, our son received a grant for $15,080 with the rest being offered as loans. But with total costs being over $40K, SCU would still be a real stretch for our family.

Santa Clara was 10,000 over about 10 other schools my D applied for, schools rated similarly and higher. It is not therefore a consideration.

Arizonamom, our kids have applied to some of the same schools, I see your writings on the boards about the Claremont Schools and Pepperdine! Good luck to your daughter in making these tough decisions! Son was waitlisted at Pitzer (his #1 choice) after getting a denial on his ED last fall to CMC; he has decided to stay on the waitlist and promote "his cause" to his admissions rep. I have appreciated all your observations these past few months and it would be a real pleasure to meet you in person! From rural north central Oregon, we are driving south the end of the week for campus visits at Pepperdine Sat & Santa Clara Sun; an informal visit at Pitzer on Friday. Run into you anywhere along the way??

They are generous. I received nearly $13,000 in a grant from them. I will go to Santa Clara if I cannot find money for Occidental; I am a first generation college bound student and my parents are freaking out over the cost and what to do.

i got a generous package too, something like ten thousand. good luck to all of you. where's everone from?

That is great to hear sunsandmoons! Can I ask you what your EFC is?
Thank you,
Kyle

sorry camaro, but what's an EFC?

Your EFC is your Expected family contribution. It is the amount that Fafsa says they expect you and your family can pay towards your education.

after all the grants I get from SCU, including the Cal Grant, I'd only have to pay ~12K. So yes, SCU is generous.....They are a very rich school.
