Fin Aid

Hey! i was wondering how good/bad fin aid is at stanford. the 2010 forum seemed like a good place to ask this question since most of you have already received your packages. if it helps at all, i fall in the 80k income bracket and have a younger sibling who will soon also be in college. i should note that 45k year for stanford would really strain my family.

My family is roughly in that bracket as well. Fortunately, Stanford's finaid is pretty generous. My initial finaid estimate was pretty nice, more than half the cost of attendance, and I think my final award will actually be higher based on our FAFSA results. I think Stanford is pretty generous generally with finaid.

thanks for answering XRedComet. thats really good news. i'm from the west coast so it'll be hard to convince mes parents to "let me go" to cali

ditto here. my package was pretty awesome, and you always have to factor in the calgrant stuff too. ideally, stanford gives anyone under 20K/yr a free ride, or at least close to. and they do that thing where if your parents aren't together, they'll make the absent one pay too, so it's pretty sweet.
but i think i would go even if they wanted like 30K outta me. some thing are worth more than money.

i suppose...i would prefer grad school over undergrad at stanford so the money does matter for me

gah, how do you check your package? i can't find anything...
