Finace major for med school... good or bad idea?

I know I definitely want to go to medical school, but also I hear a lot of people saying major in something you'll love and be good at-- finance, plus if I didn't end up as a doctor it's another field I'd be interested in (or something in the math or more tech areas.) So... I have pretty good stats and plan on applying to Stern for finance- has anyone gone through this? Will I have enough room/ experience in science for med school? Do buisness/ finance majors have decent acceptance? any advice?? please help me! =)

Finance, as a major, is not a great idea for medical school. I'm not sure whether the finance schedule at Stern would allow you to take pre-med coursework, either. Furthermore, to actually get a job in finance, you'll have to spend your summers doing internships and such. Those summer activities aren't going to impress a med school adcom. As I see it, in this situation you'll have to choose to spend your time in college in one way or the other - prepping for a career in finance or prepping for a future in medicine.

If you're certain about wanting to be pre-med, you'd be better off majoring in economics at CAS.

You definitely want to go to Med School, but when majoring in something you love, you choose finance. Why not just concentrate solely on finance then?
