Superb essays, expecting pretty good recs

Also, as alternatives, what are my chances for the honors colleges at Baylor, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma University?

bizumpage!

hey! you've got stats like mine! yay! i hope you get in!

You're applying to UCLA?

I thought UT ONLY did sittings, not mixed matched.

Thats why I said my SAT score was 1280. Which now that I think about it, its actually 1290. The first time I took the SAT I did 660 V, 630 M.

Chances aren't looking too well.

Good luck though.

anyone else?

Vyse - Based on my son's experience, Texas Tech Honors College evaluates the whole person in their admissions process (including the essays). My son had an "up-trend" first semester in his high school senior year which he communicated in early January to the Admissions persons in the Honors College. He was accepted in the first round with credentials similar to yours.

Now having completed three semesters at Tech and found teachers and friends he really respects, my son is doing extremely well academically (above the 3.8 grade point average of the Honors College students) and holding campus leadership positions which his high school record would not have predicted. Tech's Honors College for whatever combination of reasons has lit his fire. And this all started before our first visit to Tech with "I'll never go to that hick town of Lubbock".

If you are interested, read the Honors College thread in the Texas Tech portion in the Colleges forum. I think Tech's Honors College has a lot to offer (this coming from a University of Chicago alum).

Yeah, I read your post in there. It doesnt sound any easier to get in though than UT's regular program.

yep...i'm automatically in @ UT and A&M, so i decided to apply to alot of out-of-state schools. UCLA's a reach, especially oos, but some people from my school got in last year w/worse stats than mine. Alot of their admissions decisions seem pretty random, so i applied anyway. goodluck w/your apps!

bump again
