<p>another lurker here. Have enjoyed this website immensely and learned so much over the past year. DD just decided today on Cornell, her dad's alma mater. She had to turn down U of Chicago (EA acceptance, therefore her first love), Bowdoin, Bucknell and U Vt. Not an easy decision at all, but I think in the end the best "fit" for her and not quite so far from Delaware as most of her other choices.</p>

To get a jumpstart on the lingo, folks around these parts call it UVM. Don't ask me why, dunno. ;-) Congrats!</p>

<p>It's called UVM for the fact that it is the University of the Green (vert or verde) Mountains. I can't remember if they use vert (French--being so close to Quebec) or verde. But that is the "V" in UVM. The name of the state (ver mont) also means green mountains!!</p>
