Congrats Nasa - UAH has some great things to offer, and is almost unknown on this forum.

Congrats Nasa. I've heard of UAH from someone I know who teaches there now. He used to be an IBM engineer working on the shuttle. He was my boss for several years. Then he quit IBM and is teaching at UAH.

where's Bandit? where will Lindsey attend?

I think Harvard but I could be summarily executed for assuming things about other people's kids! :)

Lindsey will be at Harvard in the fall. She had a great time at pre-frosh weekend. She's not posting anymore due to the beating she's taken in some other threads. CC has been an asset through most of the process, but the last few weeks have seen some less than positive threads that we could have done without. In time, I think she will come back to help out the next class.

Bandit,

Congrats on Lindsey's decision to attend Harvard. She truly is an amazing young woman, and through all of the success she has had in this process, she has been nothing but amazingly gracious through out it all. I am sadden to hear that some of the threads have been less than positive. And I do look forward to hearing from the both of you in the future.

Yes, congrats on Harvard, Bandit (and Lindsey).

ok, so i was wrong. after looking over the list again, it appears my dad already has me on it. sorry, i checked twice last night, but apparently i missed it.

My son will be attending Caltech.

I'm going to Dartmouth.

for those of you who saw my Dartmouth vs. Rice thread, I decided Rice was my first choice, and then, last minute, my parents wouldn't let me go :( .

S will be attending Princeton.

As I look over the list on this thread, there are some notable omissions of colleges. I find myself wondering if perhaps unintentionally created biases on CC have prevented some parents from reporting their S's or D's college choices. While many students and even parents may comment "in fun" about a particular reputation of a college or university, I have noticed that a certain list has developed of "preferred" and "non-preferred" schools as I've reviewed threads on these boards.

If there are parents who have not spoken up because of this, please weigh in!
There are many more good choices besides those on the current list!

Dizzymom.....my sentiments exactly! Where's GWU??? UNC??? Only 1 Emory? Emory is HOT this year, so I KNOW there are most kids planning to attend. William and Mary?

I'm disappointed in the list being so homogenous.

The results are extraordinary and may reflect the insider knowledge of the board.

Also, does anyone else sense a bit of a backlash among CCrs?
Our collective guilt at the embarrassment of riches? Just wondering.

Son will be attending Purdue.

Our collective guilt at the embarrassment of riches?
[/quote]
I absolutely felt that sense at our house. I cried when my S had to turn down six remarkable schools and accept only one. In some warped way, I almost wish his admissions quest had not been so successful.

How soon would people like me to post the school-sorted spreadsheet list? I thought I'd wait until mid-May to see if any WL results needed to be added to the list... whadya think?

Mootmom, I also felt an "embarassment of riches". I was feeling it about mid March, and I guess it showed because my daughter said, "You're hoping I only get into one college, aren't you?" I delayed pushing her to make up her mind until the last week of April just to avoid saying no to some wonderful schools. She suffered a lot less than I did. I felt like writing a letter of apology to each school as if we had misled them.

One source of this "embarassment of riches" is that many of the parents here found CC through other web sites when we were trying to figure out what our children's high PSAT scores meant. As we pass on this site to our friends and acquaintances the spectrum of colleges will widen to the benefit of some really great schools and applicants.

mootmom
I think waiting until waitlists are sorted out is a good idea. The list won't be complete until Andi's son is included. (fingers crossed)

Mootmom, I think mid-May is too early. If we're waiting for the waitlists to close, it would be close to mid-June, I think.
