When you're choosing between the 26th and 27th ranked universities in the nation, it doesn't really matter where you end up going. Are you from an asian background? Do you plan to work outside of southern california after you graduate? What type of person are you? Druggie? Anime Fanatic? Social butterfly? Athlete? UCLA sounds more prestigious to anyone coming from an asian background, however, how you fit into the schools will make the biggest difference. I gave up a regents full ride to UCLA and Johns Hopkins University to go to SC just because I toured both campuses for literally 12 hours and just couldn't see myself with the UCLA crowd. I felt way more comfortable and felt like "home" when I was at SC. Let me remind you that both schools are AWESOME and you really need to decide for yourself and not let other people sway your judgment. Ask yourself this.. where would you feel more comfortable??

Oh yeah.. just because there are hot girls at certain schools doesn't mean they will talk to you. If you know how to talk to girls and don't have a problem socializing, it doesn't matter where you go because you will always be around those type of people! You can go to Playboy University, but if you don't have the guts to talk to anyone there, it doesn't really matter then huh? Mind as well look at pornography all day-- at least they're nude and not clothed.

I just visited USC yesterday..and I feel like people at USC seem a bit cold and unfriendly.. I don't know if I made a good choice though. I chose USC over UCLA and now feel like I should have chosen UCLA.. so guys, convince me i made a good choice. btw, my major is EE.

No matter what the positives we say about UCLA or USC, you usually have a gut feeling of where you want to go. Just go with your gut. This comparison has been going on for decades, and it's all personal preference.

UCLA = It's like being in a big city. Lots of students, large campus, great school, and public (inexpensive).

USC = It's a small town like school. Since not many people have the luxury of going to USC and just the fact the school is smaller, the population is relatively low. Family environment, lots of pride, and fantastic alumni program. Classes are small, but expensive tuition.

So just pick the school that FITS YOU THE BEST. I think the majority of people's decisions comes to tuition cost and prestige. Just remember that those two are relative.

You guys have to realize that people who are fortunate enough to come from money will be around you your entire life. You have faced them in HS, you will face them in college no matter where you go, and you will face them at work. Basing your decision because other people drive BMWs, Porsches, and Mercedes justs shows how immature and petty you are. Don't forget it's completely irrelevant. Can you imagine the day someone askes you why you didn't going to a specific school?

"Ah too many rich people drive BMW and Merecedes. I felt socially and finacially inept. ~cry~"

You sound 10x worst than those people you consider "snobby."

Here are some negative things I heard about each school.

USC:
-Lack of Academic Ambition from fellow students
-Everyone's too much into partying (still going on)
-Social life is centered around Frat (if you aren't in frat, hard to gain "social status")
-Campus's empty during the weekend cuz everyone's out drinking/partying

UCLA:
-Lack of individual attention in class (you feel insignficant)
-Professors are way too into research to care about your well-being
-Campus's empty during the weekend cuz everyone goes home
-Unfriendly faculty

FYI, this is NOT my opinion; this is compilation of most frequent complaints I heard from students attending each school.

Bookaj, Maybe It's because they are on summer break and most of the people taking summer classes are commuting!! You really need to get the vibe of the school when the semesters are in session. Of course USC is going to feel like it's "dead" because only a small portion of people are there taking summer school compared to the normal semesters. VISITING ANY SCHOOL DURING THEIR SUMMER BREAK IS THE WORST THING TO DO BECAUSE YOU DON'T GET TO REALLY FEEL THE VIBE OF IT!!!!
