Finance Major at Syracuse

My son has Syracuse on his short list and I wondered what others thought of their Finance program. Thx.

My D is a sophomore at Whitman. Entrepreneurship, finance, and supply chain management are supposed to be very strong at Whitman. And if he’s into accounting, they all seem to get jobs by November of their senior year.

Thanks for the tips. What is your D majoring in? Any other tips about Syracuse? Did your D apply ED or RD?

My D is deciding between entrepreneurship and supply chain management. You don’t have to decide until end of sophomore year. There is a large required core of classes in Whitman and majors require very few classes so many students double major there. She is a dual Newhouse-Whitman degree candidate and originally went in for marketing but there was too much overlap with her Newhouse advertising major. I have been very impressed with the personal attention and caliber of some of the faculty in the core classes. She applied RD but did go to visit three times as she struggled with the poor condition of the city of Syracuse (which has turned out not to be a huge problem for her). She did form a close email relationship with the recruiter for Whitman, Carol Heil, and she was very helpful. He should definitely interview - even if it is a local one. They overaccepted freshmen this year (so all of the dorm lounges have been turned into student rooms).
If he goes, I would strongly recommend that he apply to live on the Whitman learning community floor in the dorm. It was a fantastic experience for her. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
