Finance Major

I am currently an undergraduate finance major, and I plan on taking Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 or Financial Statement Analysis. Which one would be easier to take?

Financial statement analysis would be the easier course.

Intermediate accounting is the weed out course for students who have CPA or Big 4 aspirations. It is usually a 2 semester or 2 quarter course. Intermediate accounting gets into the nuts and bolts of line items on the balance sheet, income and cash flow statements. Financial analysis, such as ratios, is also covered. If you don’ have those aspirations, you can still take the intermediate course and many still take it. But keep in mind that this course is probably the most competitive of the undergraduate accounting classes for many accounting students. Usually, the grade curve is steeper, meaning less A’s/B’s and more C’s or below than a normal business or accounting course.

this post should probably be moved from the MBA section to the undergraduate business major section.
