Financial aid 4 intl students.is there any school for me?????????

hey everyone,

I want to apply to any university in the states but all my parents can pay is like $2,000! well i know thats little including living expences so is there any university that can provide me with financial aid where i can contribute as little as this, bythe way im form Africa. I wouldnt mind getting a loan of like $12,000 tho.Where do you guys think i should apply to. I'm doing my SATs in June so lets just consider that I'm going to do quite good in them. Thanks.

come on guys i really need an answer!!!!!!!!

I know how you feel. You can also explore these options.

Do a year or 2 at the best school at home to cut down on th expense then transfer, and try to apply for scholarships at your Ministry of Education or local scholarship foundations.

Do real good, go to a US private school and (hopefully*) get a scholarship

Go to a cheap US university like Slippery Rock; i think total cost to intls is about 16-17k).

Go to a relativeley cheaper public school in the states; granted that they dont give much if any fin-aid/scholarships to internationals. (Try Kansas, or some Cal States)

Go to a Canadian school.

Or you can work.

hey but i thought its harder to enter a university by transfering to them, is that true or is it easier to be accepted.

Its harder to transfer

its harder to transfer but I know many students from here (the College of the Bahamas) who transfer to universities in the US, Canada and the UK and elite ones too. Granted its some of the smartest who go and all.

Look at Flagler College. It has a low tuition, and they also give aid. It is a small school in Florida. Alice Lloyd is a small school with low tuition also. It might be worth looking at US colleges that are considered Historically Black. Some may give merit or need-based aid to international students. Fewer internationals apply, so you may have a good chance. These schools also tend to haver lower tuitions anyway. Look at Howard University and Fisk University. Some states also have public campuses that are historically Black and might be willing to give aid.
