Financial Aid Acceptance letters

I’m new to this, first time soon to have a son going off to college in Fall of 2019. My question is: can a student sign more than one financial aid award letters if still deciding where to go?? He signed one but does that mean he has to commit to that school? I am worried we made a big mistake. We are trying to compare two colleges he is debating on, seeing which would have the least amount to pay out of pocket. First time doing all this college stuff and am afraid we made a mistake. Would love some help/advice out there.

Thank you!

I’m not sure why or HOW I got it under the topic University of Notre Dame though. It’s a general question. My son didn’t even apply to Notre Dame. Again obviously I do not know how to use this forum! Sorry!

How does one sign a financial aid letter? Do you mean he hit the “accept” button? Fin. Aid. distribution is conditional upon attending the school so I wouldn’t worry about that. If you want, you can call them and let them know what while looking at his aid he accidentally hit “accept” misunderstanding what that meant so can they please “unaccept” for the time being. I think my kids have done that as well, by the way. You think it’s about saying “yes, that’s what I would expect” not “OK give me this aid because I’m coming here”.

I think a moderator can move this thread to the Fin. Aid. forum.
