Does anyone know if you are to sign your FA award letter? They just went over mine telling me what I was getting no asking if I wanted or agreed .
Is the question?: “Do you have to sign your FA award letter or otherwise indicate that you are accepting it in order to receive the funds?” It depends on the policy of each college. My child goes to University of Michigan. You don’t have to take any action to accept the award. It is assumed it is accepted unless you proactively reject it. The first year, you have to sign a master promissory note for the loans. Subsequent years, your first-year signature still applies.
Are you an incoming freshman? If so, at many places you should have already accepted your financial aid award. There would be a way to indicate what you were accepting and not accepting when you received your official award either via mail or email.
Some schools assume younare taking it all, but many do not.
Are you a transfer student? If so, your deadline to accept your award is probably soon.
Who went over your award with you? And where? And when?
Look on your student portal, and look for your financial aid award.
Or call the college and ask.
Is this your first time getting financial aid?
The first year we received a FA award letter in the mail and it was on my D’s college student portal.
She was to indicate whether she wanted to accept, reduce or decline her loans.
Fo her state grant and merit scholarship she didn’t have to take action to accept them.
My S also had to accept one of his scholarships, which has a service component.
And he can accept/decline his federal work study and loans.
Go to your online portal regarding aid. There should be a place for you to accept your aid
I’m still waiting for my aid. Someone I know was told it will be out in a couple weeks.
