financial aid adjustment

is princeton pretty good about highering the FA offer to the admitted students? coz I just received my williams package, and it gave me several thousand more a year (all in grant). do they "match"?

This came up for us last year with Williams and Amherst.
Princeton would not up their offer to match Amherst who were the most generous. I would still write a letter and fax the other offer to fin-aid explaining that even though they were very generous it still would be a burden compared to Williams.

Surely, u can try to negotiate with them- nothing to lose. There are several tips.

Attitude: "Gee, this is too much for our family to pay. Can you come down a little? Oh by the way, I have an offer from other school that you might want to look at" is better than " here is amherst's offer, can you top that?"

Cooperation: Ask your parent talk to them, not you. You should write a letter of emphasizing that "Princeton" is your dream school and you really really really wanna go there if at all possible .

All the best
