Financial aid after 1st year?

I'm worried about financial aid...
saw this from a previous post -

"Also, need-based aid is determined through the financial aid office, which guarantees to meet 100% of demonstrated need in the first year."

What about after the first year? I understand we have to reapply, but does Rochester still meet 100% of the demonstrated need?

You see the same policy at every school. You have to file your info every year but you can expect the same level of aid given that your circumstances remain the same.

In most cases the financial aid package remains consistent, unless the financial status of the student/family changes. Also, the financial aid office is very good about working with families to try to meet all of their needs, even beyond freshmen year. I do have to point out that it is not guaranteed, but I have not heard in my three + years here of a situation in which a student loses aid and is unable to attend beyond his/her freshman year.

Thank you both for replying, I feel better now…

FYI, at every school parents have issues with how aid keeps up with rising costs. There is no simple answer but my impression is that schools generally - and I mean generally because I have no experience with this at UR or elsewhere and I’m repeating what I hear - lag behind increases. In other words, school tends to get more expensive. Not by a ton, but I hear from parents and from reading on boards that merit awards almost always stay where they are and that college grants may budge a little up but not all the way up. This is a problem in the entire educational system and it’s one reason why kids who can barely afford school take more time (and thus why the metric of 4 year graduation rates is more a measure of the students’ family incomes).
