Can financial aid cover the price of dorms?

Thanks

Yes, it automatically does. It’s covered in the cost of attendance.

what if you are renting one off campus How do you notify them or notify them at all? Wouldn’t they just transfer the loan money for housing in your bank account through direct deposit

You can use Financial Aid money for off-campus housing. I know plenty of people who do it. Just talk to your Financial Aid adviser about it. You’ll be able to get everything straightened out very easily that way.

Any mpney not applied automatically to tuition is directly sent to the bank account you list.

So you are saying after they deduct my tuition and fees, all the money left in grant and loans will be in my bank account I give them? Heard you get two or three different payment for loans

after financial aid is released (about ten days before classes begin), the office of student financial services pays off everything on your “What I Owe” page through your financial aid money. that includes your tuition (if you selected “pay through financial aid” when you were registering for classes) and all the fees you might owe UT for testing, etc. it also, then, pays off your on-campus housing. so, basically, it clears off everything you might owe UT before you can actually get the money for yourself.

after that, all your remaining financial aid is sent to your direct deposit account. if you don’t have on-campus housing, then the remaining money is still sent automatically to your direct deposit. that money includes remaining loans, grants, scholarships, etc. you can then use that money for whatever you might need it for, including off-campus housing, books, other necessities, etc.
