I just got my financial aid letter today, and though I’ve gotten more than any other school, it’s still too high for my parents and I to afford. The parental contribution is around 13,500, the student contribution is almost 3000 (way higher than I expected, I thought I’d get the 1950 minimum), 3000 in loans (also higher than expected), and a 2100 work study. My parents have a lot of medical bills from my mom who got open heart surgery and two knee surgeries, and they are struggling so much to pay them that they just got “served” by Children’s Hospital who is suing them for unpaid bills. I was wondering how to go about appealing my award and what kind of things I should add.
Also, my mom got 13k in workers comp in 2015 for her knee injury, which is probably one of the reasons the award is so high. Since we wont be receiving it next year, should I expect to get more money offered next year? Approximately how much?
Thank you so much for any help, especially from students who have successfully appealed at Wellesley.
