Financial Aid Award Letters

I’m beginning to see the pattern: it’s random!

I swear, it really seems that way!

Living in NC, still no news.

Implode, did you get a good offer from UVA?

Rice, she got a pretty good offer. We are low income so any offers have to be pretty good in order for us afford it. So far all the schools except ND and UIUC have given us enough that with some even tighter budgeting we should be able to swing it! I know ND touts themselves as being generous with FA, which is why I think I was shocked by their lower offer.

Our mail here in Austin came today and still no news. We called yesterday and they said that they were sent out on Friday, but possibly didn’t leave ND until Saturday. US mail never takes that long. Even if it was mailed on Monday, it should have been here by today. Argh! Too bad they don’t post it electronically like many other schools. Is there anyone else who hasn’t received the notification in the mail by Thursday’s mail?

Nothing in Houston, but I did just receive an email requesting more information… AGAIN. Is anybody else in the same boat?

Also, to those who are disappointed with ND’s fa package: did y’all use the net calculator beforehand? How accurate was it? ND is my number one choice, but if the financial aid isn’t enough, I probably won’t be able to attend :frowning:

Good luck everyone - kids and parents. I understand the anxiety and need. All admitted students are clearly well qualified. Regardless of where you go, I feel certain you will succeed.

nhinhijones, we did use the net price calculator and the actual offer was off by about $8000. It was the least accurate of all the schools we’ve heard from. Hopefully you will get better news than we did!

We again did not receive ours today, so I emailed and asked. I was told that DD’s FA notification was mailed this morning. We had not been asked for any additional information. She did get our local alumni association grant application via email today. Waiting for that will be another week or two, and I do think that ND takes those into account when making their offer. So that could be why some offers are low. However, each day that we don’t hear something dampens my daughter’s enthusiasm for ND. She has been sitting on a fantastic FA offer from WashU and is just about ready to say yes to them without even waiting to hear from ND.

Thanks for the replies, MinnMa and N*Jones. My daughter was EA. I neglected to mention that. Yesterday the ND office said that if I didn’t receive it by Friday they would make other arrangements. They confirmed that it my daughter’s letter was mailed out by Saturday 3/29 at the latest. We will wait…

WRUAustin, No letter in the mail today but just recieved an email from the FA dept requesting additional information.

We are in Austin too - nothing today…maybe that means its so big and full of awards that it takes longer to reach us? Just kidding…expecting nothing and deciding between other schools anyway. Good Luck!

I called today and was told my award letter wasn’t sent out until Tuesday not on Friday. I’m not sure why they weren’t all mailed out on the same day

I am also in MN and still waiting. My IDOC was submitted a few days late however, which could be why

Nothing in Austin for my daughter today. Earlier in the week I had called and they said it was mailed out last Friday and that if it doesn’t come by Friday (today) to call and they will make other arrangements. My daughter will call after her school is finished today.

In NY, just received the package yesterday. Very generous, and around 5k more in gift aid than mentioned on the NPC. Good luck to all those still waiting, and go Irish!

From MN, received my package today. Very disappointing, they by no means met 100% of my need. Not even close to what St. Olaf offered me :/

@sjh9524‌ Welcome to the club- very disappointed here as well. Much better offers from other schools. So much for ND’s generous fin aid.
