Financial Aid Documents Incomplete

Has anyone else had this problem? I sent in most of the documents on April 22nd and they were received, then I sent in the CSS profile on May 1st or something like that and I checked the CollegeBoard website to make sure, and it says it was submitted May 4th. Yet, I keep receiving e-mails (3 or 4 so far) that my financial aid documents are incomplete, and on Wolverine Access it says my CSS Profile is Requested. I know I should call the office of Fin Aid, but has anyone else had this problem? It seems like 2 and a half months would be enough time for the Fin Aid office to register a CSS profile.

We’ve never had this problem, but we submitted the CSS profile the first week of January and the FAFSA well before the deadline. You know that for full consideration they have an early deadline, right? As in if you meet their deadlines, you get first shot at the pool of financial aid, much of which is from the school itself, and therefore is its own option to give it to you via grant?
Instead of making this sound like their problem (eg. your last sentence) you need to realize it is entirely to your benefit and you need to resolve it and in the future take a more proactive approach to managing your documents.

So call them immediately to get it sorted out. Then fax them the CSS forms and ask for confirmation they’ve received it. Don’t delay. Also, if for any reason your records were selected for verification (sending the tax returns for Fafsa directly to the school) that would also trigger the incomplete message.

Next year, try to get your stuff in early and you’ll have a much smoother experience I suspect. (You won’t have to do CSS again, just the FAFSA.)

I drive my parents nuts every year about making sure we do all this stuff early and I still don’t have my award notice for Fall. We had to submit tax returns, which I expected because we have never NOT had to, and we got them in really early. But then last week they decided they needed an assets verification form, too. So I got that in next day and we are still waiting. At this rate I won’t have enough time to get my private loans in before school starts.

i’m not at all concerned about the aid; in fact i don’t expect to get any since i won’t get any need based fin aid and merit based doesn’t usually come for out-of-staters who get it in late. it’s just frustrating because until they update it, i can’t register any of the scholarships/grants i’ve gotten.

but yeah i realize it is my fault. i figure i’ll ask about who i can contact at my orientation on monday, and if nothing happens then ill just call the fin aid office when i get back or something. thanks for your responses though!
