Financial Aid- Early Decision

<p>I'm nearly done with my commonapp and everything, for ED. However, I haven't done anything for financial aid yet, and am a bit confused.
Since I am applying Early, I'm supposed to get my aid package if/when i get accepted dec 15. This means that they will base everything off my 2010 tax return, as opposed to regular applicants, who use the 2011 tax return?</p>

<p>The rice fin aid page, says FAFSA is due March 1, I'm assuming that I don't need to worry about that right now? It also says file your taxes by Feb 15, but it doesnt really matter since ill know how much im getting way before then, right?</p>

<p>Am I right in thinking that only my CSS profile and 2010 tax returns are required? If so, why do they even want the 2011 tax return?</p>

<p>When you apply, you turn in the required forms (CSS Profile and 2010 tax returns). Then you will get an estimate when you get your ED acceptance. This is only an estimate based on your 2010 tax returns. You need to turn in your FAFSA and other stuff at the later deadlines with your 2011 tax info to get the actual numbers.</p>
