Financial Aid/Fellowships

I've received my aid package from Rhodes (and am pretty happy with it). After browsing the Rhodes website, though, I'm not sure about some of the things they specified in the mail.

One of the awards I received was the University Fellowship, for $15,000 per year. I don't know what this fellowship means, though! Does anyone here know what it entails--service or research requirements/involvement surrounding it? The CODA Fellowship, for example, involves a certain number of arts involvement and service per week, among other things. But I can't find specification about this particular one.

Any ideas? Anyone else with aid they'd like to discuss? I found it helpful as a junior and later, as an applicant, seeing other people's financial aid awards or discussions thereof. It really helps for comparison and context.

Money, money makes the world go 'round. If only it weren't so.

Congratulations on receiving a fellowship!! I think the best thing to do is to contact the rep in admissions that is assigned to your area, since I believe Admissions makes the decisions of who is offered which fellowship he or she would be able to explain what it entails.

@ wisteriawings…Did you get anything else besides the fellowship…?? like Merit, need based, loans etc etc…

Im still waiting for my financial aid package, since I am an international student

Congratulations on receiving a fellowship–what exciting news! I am not sure what service/academic componenets a University Fellowship entails but I will certainly look into it for you!

Best wishes,
Kristine

HI,
I just got my financial aid package, my full need was met. I just wanted to know that can we apply for more aid in the following year? since my mother will retire next year and this would effect my assured support.!

Yes. You submit FA information every year and it will be adjusted based on the new numbers. If available resources go up , your award goes down. If available resources go down, the award goes up.

Krakenjack: yes, I did receive other aid. My package, in addition to the generous fellowship, included a “Rhodes grant” (which is, I guess, what they call their need-based grant aid) for 9,500; Fed. work/study for 1,600; and the maximum amount of stafford loans (5,500). I was also offered $2,000 for National Merit Finalist status, bringing the total aid to $33,500. I thought that was nice.

We had an EFC of $7,000 on the FAFSA, but my dad’s income increased that value.
