Financial Aid for 250k income

I am going to be blunt. My parents (married) make 250k combined before taxes. Is there any chance that I will get any money?

Unlikely for need based. Maybe merit?

Isn't everyone worthy of a merit scholarship at Georgetown lol. I thought these type of schools specifically do not give merit scholarships?

Can you play basketball?

Georgetown doesn't give merit scholarships as far as I know. Chances of you getting and aid are very very small. Maybe if you had 4 siblings that are also currently attending a private school, but I doubt that is the case.

yeah this sucks.

Gtown does not give merit scholarships. There are a few programs you might be selected for when you apply that come with "merit" type aid...but that's luck of the draw and there are very few of those. Gtown, as a Jesuit institution, meets all financial need only. With 250K, you're not going to get anything. (My parents make about half that and I got nothing for four years).

That's about my parents' income and I got nothing.

Sigh same here. Unfortunately you're not getting anything.

Dan, Jason, and Enygma,

Do you all have any suggestions on how I should pay for Georgetown if I get in?

If your parents can pay for it, then they're going to have to pay for it. Just based on their income you're not going to get anything from Gtown and any outside scholarships you apply for will probably require some sort of income documentation. If it comes down to you and someone whose parents make even 125K, they get the money. It stinks...I know.
Gtown does have a 10 month payment plan which can make things easier for your parents. My parents weren't exactly in a place where they could write out at $15,000 check each semester (though some students do have parents that can do that). The payment plan allowed us to pay anywhere from $2200 to $3400 a month (the plan will change for you every year. Depending on my housing and what the tuition was that year, my parents paid anywhere in that amount).
Really out of guilt I made a conscious decision to pay for my daily living expenses (a lot of Gtown students don't feel the same way) so I've always had a job and worked anywhere from 15-30 hours/week. That was usually enough to help me pay for books, food, and whatever else I needed. I also used the library consortium to acquire the most expensive books that I needed for classes from other DC universities (most professors take them off the Gtown shelves so that one student won't do that). I also did things like planning out my projects so that I could print off papers and things at work (saved on paper and toner for my own printer).
And if all else fails, just remember: loan doesn't have to be a dirty word.

Yeah. I am going to have to start working or sell my organs. Still haven't decided which one -_-

Many bamks offer loans, some loans come through Georgetown, get a job, I really don't know.

Dan,

you don't know how you pay for Georgetown? any advice would be greatly helpful!!!

My parents can afford it, I have a job for spending money, and my parents took out a loan through my Dad's company in Mexico. We don;t ahve US loans b/c my Dad makes his money in Mexico, I don't know that much. If you apply, they will send you a book with lots of options on how to pay for college, I think they even have monthly payments that you set up yourself depending on how your income flows, e.g. you parents own an ice cream shop, so most of your income comes in the summer, so that is how you set up your payments.

yeah I also have a loan, and you pay monthly installments on it. If you get outside scholarships you can use those too. It'll basically come down to loans and outside scholarships if you can't "demonstrate" that you can't pay for the whole thing.
