I am an indian student with 4.0 gap, 2320 (m:780, CR: 740, W:800) in sat and 800 in physics and 800 in math level 2 sat subject tests.
I have applied for school of engineering for civil engineering (5months of internship at construction firms) at columbia (which has 24% acceptance rate)
Extra curricular wise, I have almost a year of work experience ( i am into my gap year by the way), was school captain in both my high schools (attended multiple high schools), around 200 hrs of volunteer work and am a national Ice hockey player and have been the topper (valedictorian) of my class for four consecutive years.

I have had a telephonic interview in january was great (lasted around 90mins) and am waiting for the decision.

My question is: will 'applied for financial aid' be a sever disadvantage for me? will it be the deal-breaker???

ps; i have been rejected by mit and wait listed by Uchicago (where i applied for economics)
