Financial aid for low income, high achieving Asian (cali resident)

I'm searching for scholarships and financial aid at the UC's right now. I'm aware of the Pell Grant and alumni scholarships.

My stats are:

SAT: 2330
SAT subjects: 790 chem, 790 U.S. History, 790 math II
GPA: 3.91 UW, 2/570

I have decent EC's. I have also lived in California for my whole life. Could you guys give me advice on which major scholarships and grants I should apply for?

Define low income. Anything under 60 or 80k qualifies you for the Blue/Gold program which means GRANTS that worth the cost of tuition (roughly 10.5k)

Thanks for the response. My family makes under 20k a year.

With your stats, you might be invited to apply for the Regents Scholarship. UCLA usually sends out invitations to apply arounrd Jan/Feb. If you are invited, be sure to apply. If you are selected as a Regents Scholar, all your financial needs will be covered, no loans. Here is a link for more info

Make sure you fill out your FAFSA on time also. As binks pointed out, you will for sure qualify for some financial aid with that income.

Thanks for the informative responses.

With those stats I hope you applied to places like Stanford and the Ivies and emphasized your financial situation in your application, they love that kind of stuff from applicants and meet full financial need.
You have about the same stats as I did and I was invited to apply for and was eventually awarded a Regents Scholarship which translates to a full scholarship (actually, I make a bit of a profit). You’re definitely in competition for it so if you’re invited to apply make sure you turn in a solid application. It also comes with other perks like priority registration for classes and guaranteed parking.

Thanks for the response.

Bump. About grants/scholarships…

Undergraduates are considered automatically for most of these, right? (regents, grants, etc.) I just have to file my FAFSA on time?

You need to file your FAFSA no matter what since you will definitely get some financial aid given your income.

Regents is automatic. The only other scholarship I can think of now is the UCLA Alumni one. You need to apply separately. If you are selected, you get $4000 over 4 years ($1000 per year) and then out of those selected, they pick grand winners that get much more than that. Also ASC (Alumni Scholar Club?) is an active and tight club on campus which you might find very worth while.
