Financial Aid for Off campus Housing

Does anyone know if we can receive financial aid to pay for off campus housing? Or is financial aid to be used strictly for on-campus housing

Cost of housing is indeed calculated into the cost of attendance. You do not get financial aid to pay for house per se, but if your EFC is low enough you can get enough financial aid and put it towards housing. As such, on-campus housing has the highest cost for calculating cost of attendance. Off-campus comes after, and commuter is the last. So if you stay on campus, they may award you more money than if you live off-campus or commute.

You get a lump sum of financial aid.
You can use it for housing if you have enough after it automatically pays tuition and fees.
Off-campus housing is usually less expensive.
The amount of financial aid available is less if you choose to go off campus.

Thank you for the information. So this means that if we get a grant from the University itself then it will be adjusted accordingly to the housing, right?
