I'm applying to Berkeley this year, but I live in Michigan, and I was wondering what kind of financial aid out of state students typically got?

None at all. Good luck getting into Cal OOS, because it's not likely at all.

I got a couple federal grants some scholarships from Berkeley. The scholarships were around $12,000 a year and grants gave me another $8,000.

Definitely apply even though you are oos. I think the only difference for you would be the Cal grant, which is only around $1000 max or something. You are still eligible for any federal grants and university wide scholarship such as regents.

the university has enough funds to subsidize the cal grant. So what would be 6,000 of the cal grant to an instate, an out of state person would get 6,000 in university scholarship, in addition to federal grants. In total, i would say you would receive about 10 thousand dollars in need-based grants and the rest loans (about 20 thousand).

i just realized that oos = out of state, lol
