Hello everyone currently I am attending a community college and I would like to know that does berkeley give financial aid for out of state students. Anyone who got admitted as a freshman or community college student to Berkeley and is OOS did you get any good financial aid. I would like to know as I plan on applying and based upon the Net Price Calculator I would be paying 65k per year and I do not like to be in debt after transferring out of a community college.
California UC’s give little to no financial aid to OOS students. I would believe the NPC.
The UCs are public universities funded by the taxpayers of California.
They do not give any financial aid to non residents.
The publics were created for instate taxpayers’ and their children.
Your fees would be $65K per year.
But when I ran the net price calculator for University of Michigan I would be paying 14k without any loans and I calculated this three times. So why is University of Michigan cheaper?
And I am also OOS for MICHIGAN
University of Michigan wants to attract OSS students and the State of Michigan allows that.
But University of Michigan like Berkeley is also a top 10 school in engineering and business according to us news
Its like one top university wants OOS students and one top university does not.
You should go to Michigan. Sounds better for your budget.
Each state is different in every way possible. You do realize that each state has its own laws, rules, income, state taxes, governors, legislatures, etc.???
Have you taken a US history or California history course yet?
The state of Michigan has nothing to do with the state of California
I am actually taking British History and its early Britain History
I will be taking American Government in the summer but I never knew how drastic public universities are from each other.
British history Typically does not discuss California or Michigan in the United States.
Yeah I know
Thats why I didnt know about the difference from state to state
You may wanna rethink applying to Berkeley or Michigan.
Anyways thanks for the Info. I guess I will not be applying to Berkeley
Public colleges in the US are funded by the people living in each state, not by the US Federal Government. It’s different than public colleges in other countries.
Its really just California…
The California public schools are already overwhelmed with applications from everywhere in the United States and in the world. People want to seem to live in California for a variety of reasons.
They do not need to attract more students because they already get a lot of attention and they have hundreds of thousands of people who would be willing to pay $65,000 a year to attend California school
and now you know what Californians are like…
